Milwaukee rescue mission: Family food baskets

Northbrook is partnering with the Milwaukee Rescue Mission to provide a Thanksgiving meal and pantry extras for 350 families!  Plan to pick up reusable shopping bags and a shopping list in the lobby on the weekend of October 31/November 1.  For online viewers, you can download the shopping list here and use two of your own shopping bags.

Fill each bag according to the list and return to the Lower West Tower, during worship services or office hours (9–5 Mon–Thurs), no later than Sunday, November 15.    DOWNLOAD SHOPPING LIST HERE

Micah Ministry:

Christmas Stockings

Send a message of love and hope to survivors of trafficking by filling a Christmas stocking.  Stop by the Micah Ministry table in the nb Café on November 7 & 8 to pick up a stocking, handmade by our Threads of Hope ministry, and a list of items to fill it with. Learn about other items needed for restoration bags as well.

The stockings are given out by FBI/MPD agencies to trafficking victims rescued during the Christmas season.

Responding to

Midwest Derecho

Parts of the Midwest are struggling to recover after a derecho barreled 700 miles from South Dakota and western Iowa through the Corn Belt all the way to Ohio. A derecho is a wide-pathed, long-lived, and fast-moving violent storm with sustained straight-line winds. During this storm, wind gusts reached as high as 112 miles per hour.

Check out more info about the disaster HERE.

Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by the recent derecho storm and will help in Jesus' name with roof tarping, debris cleanup, and chainsaw work. Hillside Wesleyan Church (2600 1st Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405) is serving as the base of operations.

Note: A second deployment in Tama County, Iowa, west of Cedar Rapids will be set up as soon as a host church is located. Samaritan's Purse expects to be in the area at least 2 months.

With this deployment so close to home, Elmbrook Church (which normally coordinates disaster relief teams) will not be forming traditional teams. Rather, we would ask that you prayerfully consider volunteering for as long as your schedule will allow, as the location is only a 4 hour drive.

If you are able to stay overnight more than 3 nights, then register online HERE. Feel free to share this information with your friends and/or family.
